Figured Out

A/N: Challenge was to write Renji/Ichigo. I haven’t read Bleach in a while, so I would assume this is set loosely between the Soul Society arc and the Arrankar arc. And it’s not really pairing-ish at all and certainly not prony. I like Renji/Rukia and Ichigo/NOBODY. That’s right, nobody. I think all pairings with Ichigo in them are equally annoying and/or unlikely, and if I support him with anyone, it’s Zaraki. There. I said it. =D As a serious Renji/Ichigo fic, this probably sucks, ‘cause I’m not into their characters at all. So make of that what you will.

Abarai Renji did not like Ichigo.

There was a very good reason for this. A dozen or more, probably. But mostly it was because Ichigo was fine and dandy with the fact that Rukia had decided to stay behind in Soul Society. The ass-kicking thing was that he really was, too. It pissed Renji off. He wasn’t sure how he felt about the fact that Rukia had so easily forgiven everyone who had nearly helped put an end to her, including him.

Just to be contrary, he decided he didn’t like it. So he had yelled at her a bit, and she had gotten that ice princess look on her face – something Renji assumed she had learned from Byakuya-hime.

So he went down to earth. Just to have a few drinks. He didn’t want to put up with any prying questions from his peers. Instead he ran into Ichigo, who definitely should not have been in the bar in the first place, but muttered something about it being none of Renji’s business why he was there and why didn’t he just shut up anyway.

“Ya ever just want to say ‘fuck it all’ for a bit?” Renji asked.

“Nope,” Ichigo said, looking into his drink.

“Never?”

“Nope.”

“Well, why the hell not?”

Ichigo shrugged. “What would be the point?”

It made Renji perversely angry. “Yeah, you’ve just got it all together, haven’t you. Got it all figured out. You and Rukia are both like that. Shit. Pisses me off.”

“Then figure it out yourself,” Ichigo said, knocking back the last of his drink.

Renji really hated Ichigo.
